Bio:

Dr. Patrick A. Duffy is currently the Director of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership in the St. Louis Park Public Schools district and an adjunct professor at the University of MInnesota-Twin Cities in their graduate school of education and human development.  He teaches classes on culturally responsive school leadership and teaching and learning.  Prior to his work in St. Louis Park and the University of Minnesota, Dr. Duffy worked in the three largest school districts in Minnesota (Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Anoka-Hennepin) as a principal and district administrator.

In 2012, Dr. Duffy won an award for national dissertation of the year from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) for his work with critical race theory and racial identity development in high schools. Patrick is a recent 2023 graduate of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) National Urban Superintendent’s cohort through Howard University and attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Urban Principal Institute. Patrick earned his Bachelors Degree (History), Master Degree (Curriculum and Instruction) and his Doctoral Degree (Educational Policy and Leadership) from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities.

Patrick published his book entitled “Becoming an Anti-Racist School Leader: Dare to Be Real” with Teachers College Press in September 2023. This book got to #3 on the Amazon Education and Curriculum book bestsellers list in January of 2024.  

Patrick grew up in Grand Marais, MN, loves to run and play piano, spent time in 2023 on a humanitarian trip to Israel and Palestine before visiting his ancestral homeland of Lebanon, and is the proud father of Keira and Will Duffy. Dr. Duffy is Irish and Arab American.
